Welcome to His Master’s Noise – an ecumenical gospel choir from Helsinki, Finland, sharing uplifting African-American gospel music and joyful fellowship since 1988.
His Master’s Noise (HMN) is a Finland-Swedish ecumenical gospel choir founded in 1988 in Helsinki by Birthe Wingren, Per Göthelid, and Sören Lillkung. For more than three decades, the choir has been a vibrant home for singers who share a deep passion for gospel music.
Today, the choir is led by conductor Simon Djupsjöbacka, deputy conductor Matilda Wikström, and pianist Tommi Jalo. The choir comprises approximately 40 active singers from diverse backgrounds and Christian denominations across Swedish-speaking Finland and abroad.
Our repertoire centers around traditional and contemporary African-American gospel music — a genre rooted in early spirituals and blues, distinguished by tight grooves, high energy, rich vocal harmonies, and infectious joy.
In addition to performing regular concerts and church services across Finland, His Master’s Noise has toured internationally, performed on television and radio, recorded multiple albums, and released the live concert DVD His Master’s Noise & By Grace – Live in Helsinki.
His Master’s Noise is a registered non-profit cultural association in Helsinki. Our purpose is to unite people through gospel music and choral singing. We organize weekly choir rehearsals, concerts, workshops, and music festivals, and collaborate with other choirs, musicians, and community organizations.
His Master’s Noise is available for bookings at concerts, church services, weddings, anniversaries, corporate events and special events. If you would like to book the choir or audition to sing with us, please feel free to reach out:
